When you use vacuum cleaner regularly you are aware of the parts of the cleaner. However, unless you are handy with the tools you will not know which part goes where and cannot fix it if it breaks down.
Alternatively, if you are handy with tools you can do your own repairs and fix the small problems by yourself. The belt which drives the vacuum is the main culprit and most of the time that gives way and you need to get a new one and fix it. The belt is made of rubber which stretches and makes the brushes turn at the bottom of the cleaner.
The vacuum when cleaning goes over the object which are big and can be sucked into the vacuum the machine will halt and the burning smell which is the smell of burning rubber belt can be felt.
The spare parts are all available with the manufacturer but the belt is such a common thing that even the local store carries it because it is not very expensive and it is a thing which is required regularly. Apart from the parts which are spoiled the main problem will be clogging where the part is not the culprit but the machine gets chocked with all the dust and dirt. You just need to clean it and it will be back working again.
Only if your Vacuum cleaner is very old and the manufacturer has stopped manufacturing that model, you may not get the parts for that but otherwise almost always the parts are available in the market which can be replace and your Vacuum cleaner is on its way to clean your house.
